[SOMETHING TO CROW ABOUT]

[MEETING DATE JULY 19, 2010]

[DEADLINE FOR THE AUGUST 2010 BULLETIN IS

FRIDAY JULY 23 RD 2010]

[BIG SIR MAYNARD “ROD RODLAND  SAYS]

Since our May meeting, we have had the Picnic/Golf, and our golfing trip to Carson City.  I would like to thank all those who makes these events exciting and meaningful.  I appreciate all the work that goes into the preparation that made these events a great experience.  If you haven’t taken part in the Carson city golf trip, you are really missing a fun time.  There will be a trip in October for all those who are interested.  We are approaching the halfway mark in July, and along with that comes the “hot” summer weather.  Try to remember to take care out in the sun while playing golf.

[THIS MONTHS PROGRAM]

Some serious business for a change.  It’s all about protecting your nest egg when Long Term Care rears its ugly head.  If you didn’t know that State benefits exist to pay for care, you might be in for a pleasant surprise.  Our guest is Michael Bearman of the Safe Inheritance Corporation.  He explains the facts and answers your questions.  Lets think about beating the system!

 See you there July 19th.

[OUR JULY LUNCH WILL BE LASAGNA W/ SAUSAGE]

NEW MEMBER                                                                              Steve Peterson  (wife—Cathy)     #216                                                          213 Washington Place,  West Sacramento  95605                                               City Planner, City of Sacramento                                                                         Hobbies:  Golf, Fishing and Travel

Welcome Steve!

We continue the need to bring in new members, but it won’t happen unless YOU invite someone.  One of the common complaints against joining a Sir golf group is that “old guys play too slow”!  that is .largely a myth. Most seniors play with the intention of avoiding slow play.  Most of our local courses ask for rounds to be completed in 4 to 4 and a half hours.  That’s hard to do in tournament play.  I clocked Tiger’s threesome on Saturday at the U.S. Open:  5 hours and 17 minutes.                                                                                                     And these are the best golfers in the world!  So, challenge those fellows who insist old people play too slow and invite them to see for themselves.

[Why you don’t marry a Massachusetts Girl]

The husband ordered her to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed, and hot meals on the table for every meal!  He said the first day he didn’t see anything, the second day he didn’t see anything but by the third day, some of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye, and his arm was healed enough that he could fix himself a sandwich, and load the dishwasher.  He still has some difficulty when he pees.

The Golf Committee has begun to embark on the task of developing and formalizing a written rules, policies and procedures “manual”.

We have gleaned material from several sources, and will charge a golf subcommittee with the task of organizing it into a reasonable draft.  This draft will then be reviewed by the entire Golf Committee, and the Golf Committee will decide which elements need to be added, dropped, or revised.  The final document will be voted on by the Golf Committee for approval and then be presented to the General membership.  It will be entered in the monthly bulletin, and be put on the Web site as soon as possible.  We feel that this will be a great aid also for new in-coming members.

The process most likely will take several months, but we intend to complete it and present it to the membership in time for next year’s schedule.

We have had several suggestions from the membership, and all will be taken into consideration.  We appreciate your patience and understanding.  All inquiries should be directed to the Golf Chair only             by phone or by e-mail.

Chuck Phillips
